The Ontario government is developing a new needs-based, sustainable and family-centred Ontario Autism Program (OAP). The Caregiver-Mediated Early Years Program, for children with ASD up to 48 months old, is a recently announced new addition to the OAP service pathway. AlphaBee and SAAAC have partnered to deliver JASPER training to caregivers/parents as an early years intervention model.
With a clear focus on learning outcomes, the trusted team of therapists at AlphaBee and SAAAC offer an individualized approach for children with autism and their caregivers, to unlock learning potential. Using an approach targeting social communication skills delivered through online and in-person training, children with autism stand to gain improvements in joint engagement, play skills, communication and emotional regulation.
AlphaBee and SAAAC have a combined close to 40 years of extensive experience serving our community and working with children and youth with ASD. Both agencies have a well-established service collaboration within the social services community, delivering valuable and effective clinical services. We share the same principles and values: service excellence and valuable outcomes for those we support.
JASPER is an acronym for joint attention, symbolic play, engagement, and regulation.
The JASPER model has substantial evidence to support its effectiveness as a caregiver mediated intervention with children with ASD.
Caregivers/parents will be taught by therapists who are receiving rigorous training from the experts from UCLA who developed the JASPER intervention model.
By taking an active role and teaming up with your coach you will learn therapeutic strategies important for supporting your child.
Our goal is to empower you with some easy to learn strategies that will have a big impact on your child’s learning and continue to have an impact long after.
A dedicated Service Coordination team will work with the clinical team to ensure that learning needs are met through the caregiver mediated service pathway.
